The Calcutta Medical Research Institute
CMRI is a 400 bed super-specialty hospital located in Kolkata, India. Keeping track of paper based medical records was a difficult task. Somnet has digitized more than 6 million pages of patient records, indexed and made them a part of a high availability Document Management System. Retrieval of medical records have become easy. The Hospital has recovered more than six thousand square feet of active office space and regulatory compliances have been made. The implementation model has been “Fully Managed” with supply of hardware, software and manpower.

Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute
CNCI is a National oncology research institute and cancer hospital located in Kolkata, India. Archival and retrieval of research documents was a major area of concern of the Doctors and Research Teams. Scanning stations with trained operators were used by Somnet to scan old and fragile documents, after they had been dehumidified, wherever required. High-Speed Canon Document Scanners were used along with Somnet’s own Document Management System, iDoc , to deliver customized, tailor-made solutions. There has been significant decrease in cost of the organization and subsequent digitization of documents is being carried out with repeat orders.

The Calcutta Medical Research Institute
CMRI has been one of the esteemed clients of Somnet and has been one of the pioneers in implementing the “Managed Print Services” offered by Somnet. Centralized printing management services has reduced the cost of enterprise printing, The institute used to incur huge printing costs previously during the time when Desktop printers were in place with no control over print volume or access restriction. With the changed system, print administration was done remotely thus keeping a track of every printing activity in the periphery of the hospital. The implementation has been taken care of fully by Somnet with the supply of printing facilities, high end network printers, software and manpower.

Apollo Gleneagles Hospital
Apollo Gleneagles Hospital is a 425 bedded multi-specialty hospital having more than 53 medical specialties and is part of the Apollo Hospitals Group, the largest healthcare group in Asia. The average print volume is around 1,50,000 documents per month resulting in huge cost. The IT department had no control over the usage and cost, and often the SLA was not maintained due to the presence of multiple vendors. Somnet’s fully managed printing model with the help of Canon printers and remote print administration has reduced printing costs significantly. Moreover user quotas and passwords have been allocated to Workgroups resulting in significant reduction in usage and costs.

Japan International Cooperation Agency
Japan International Cooperation Agency wanted an integrated data and document infrastructure to be designed and implemented within a time span of 72 hours.This was done at the JICA project office in West Bengal for a 1500 cr. bridge developed over the River Hugli to link Kolkata and Haldia Port and the Haldia Industrial Complex. A Wireless LAN was setup connecting 10 workgroups and one server. Printing infrastructure was built using Canon Printers and Network enabled multifunctions. JICA Engineers were able to send any document digitally (Mail, FTP, e-FAX) from the Scanners and MFDs resulting in faster communication and reduced cost of faxing. The entire project was implemented under high time constraint with remarkable speed and efficiency.
